THIS tragic Sheffield toddler is fighting for life after a horror smash which seriously injured her mum and left another woman dead.
Jasmine Abbott, aged two-and-a-half, of Wordsworth Avenue, Parson Cross, suffered multiple injuries including a fractured skull and brain damage in the smash between a car and a motorbike.

The toddler was travelling in the back of a Citroen AX car with her mum Anita Abbott, 29, when it was involved in a head-on collision with a bike travelling in the opposite direction on the A161 to Scunthorpe.

Anita suffered a fractured pelvis, dislocated leg and internal injuries.

Their friend Mandy Lynne Stephenson, 43, of Holgate Road, Parson Cross, who was travelling in the front, was killed instantly in the smash.

The 47-year-old driver, said to be Mandy's husband Christopher Stephenson, 47, of Holgate Road, Parson Cross, had offered to take the pair to Scunthorpe to pick up a puppy for the little girl when tragedy struck. He escaped with a fractured finger.

He had offered to take Anita and Jasmine to Scunthorpe to pick up a puppy for the little girl when tragedy struck.

Jasmine's heartbroken father Stephen Abbott is keeping a desperate vigil by the bedsides of both his wife and little daughter, willing them to pull through.

His 18-year-old son from a previous relationship, Anthony, said his dad is torn between visiting Jasmine at Sheffield Children's Hospital and Anita in intensive care at the Northern General.

Anthony told The Star: "Both Anita and Jasmine are in hospital which is hard for my dad because they are in different places.

"He has been spending a lot of time with Jasmine waiting for news because we know she has brain damage but we don't know how serious it is yet and how she will be affected.

"She hasn't moved yet so we are waiting to see whether she will get her movement back. We are all just waiting by our phones for some news."

He said of the tragedy: "All I know is they were on their way to Scunthorpe to get a puppy for Jasmine and their friends were taking them.

"We are all in shock at what has happened, especially dad - he can't believe it. None of us can."

Both Jasmine and her mum were rushed to Scunthorpe General Hospital after the smash, before being transferred for specialist treatment closer to home.

Mother and daughter are both said to be poorly but stable.

The 47-year-old biker, from Scunthorpe, suffered multiple internal injuries and a fractured breastbone.

His condition is also described as poorly but stable.

Anita and Jasmine are close relatives of mine and I would like to confirm that Jasmine WAS suitably strapped in a car seat. There are 2 sides to every story and not all of this article is factual.

I am Anita's niece and Jasmine's cousin. To read the comments made in this article anger and upset me and the rest of my family as many of the comments made are actually a fabrication of what is really happening. Many of the comments made in the interview are lies and would seem people are trying to cash in on innocent peoples misfortunes! My family know the true story of events and they are far from what the comments made by a certain someone state. It is also hurtful that people make assumptions and make false accusations without having the full facts! Please get your facts straight before accusations are made!

A Friend Of the Family,

very well said from some of the people I wish Both Anita and Jasmine a speedy recovery and to get well soon,
I say let the people do the jobs that are ment for them to do and leave them to there reports and to help them recover and all the loved ones around them support those around them and Anita and Jasmine to get well thats all that matters the most, non of the stories matter all that matters is the people around them and Anita and Jasmine, The papers are always looking for stories and most of the tiem the stories are never the full facts there mostly twistered and made up as they go along just becasue they cant get the full facts.

Final Note a Big Thank you to all the doctors and nurses caring for them both!!!!
