Council row over windfall

A FINAL plea has been made for Sheffield Council to use a £2.4 million cash windfall on elderly and disabled people.
New Liberal Democrat bosses have decided that the underspend on OAPs' care by the NHS should go into a general pot.

But Labour chairman of the Health and Community Care Scrutiny Board, Coun Mick Rooney, said: "The Lib Dems seem happy to spend an extra £1.5m on reducing graffiti and cleaning the street. Although these things are important, surely not more important than our old people."
