SHEFFIELD has been rated one of the best cities for students in the UK - coming joint second in a poll run by an accommodation website.
Sheffield comes behind only Newcastle in the survey based on over 36,000 student reviews from 56 university towns across the country.

The poll carried out by accommodationforstudents.com asked those interviewed to rate on five key areas.

The key criteria were going out, shops, transport links, community quality and facilities.

Sheffield scored well for its restaurants, pubs, clubs, supermarkets, buses, trams, trains, gyms, libraries and parks.

Coming further down the table were London, Cambridge, Leeds and Liverpool.
