A FAULT on an 11,000 volt electricity cable affected the power supply to 3,523 homes and businesses in Sheffield over the weekend.
Customers reported a loud bang and a total blackout or temporary loss of power in the S10 area, which includes Broomhill, Crosspool, Fulwood and Crookes, at around 9.15pm on Saturday.
Within 15 minutes all but 227 properties had their electricity supplies restored and the remainder were reconnected by 11.30pm. A fault with a cable in a box in the Rivelin Valley Road substation was responsible for the incident.
