BROADCASTER, author and journalist Kate Adie is swapping her microphone to talk about her books and her career in Barnsley in October.
Kate's work as a BBC war correspondent has involved reporting from some of the world's most dangerous trouble spots, including Rwanda, Sierra Leone and Gulf War battle zones.
She has written several books including her autobiography The Kindness
of Strangers, Corsets to Camouflage - the story of women's role in warfare, and Nobody's Child, which tells the history of foundling children from the eighteenth century to the present day
Her latest book , Into Danger - People Who Risk Their Lives For Work, has involved her interviewing stuntmen, landmine exploders and even Saddam Hussein's food taster. She will be speaking at Mapplewell and Staincross Village Hall, Darton Lane in Mapplewell, Barnsley, on Thursday October 16 at 5.30pm. Tickets for the Kate Adie Author Event are £2.50, which includes light refreshments. Places are limited to 200.
