A BARBER from Sheffield hopes to be a cut above the rest in highlighting the issue of human trafficking.
Fabiano Martell, owner of WM Barbieri Italian Barbers on Campo Lane, will be cutting hair on Fargate on Thursday. All the proceeds he raises will go to the charity Stop the Traffik.

The dad-of-two will be offering haircuts for donations from 9am u
ntil 4pm. On the same day 20 per cent of the proceeds of all cuts carried out at his barber's shop will also be donated to the charity.

Stop The Traffik raises awareness of the issue of human trafficking and supports victims.

Fabiano said he became interested in the charity after spotting an information stall about it at a Christian gathering in April.

He said: "The gentleman running the stall told the story of how the charity came into being. I was horrified at the story he told me about children that had been kidnapped and trafficked into the sex trade. These poor innocent children should be playing, not being prostituted by criminals.

"I thought how I would react and feel if, heaven forbid, it happened to my children. From that moment I wanted to support their work and try to help them in any way I could, financially and publicly.

"As a business I had always wanted to support a charity that I could get passionate about and in one I knew would make a difference.

"I don't know how effective this venture will be but it is a starting point and hopefully people will become aware of the immensity of the human trafficking trade.

"It has the second biggest profit turnover next to drugs. This has got to be stopped."
