STAFF and guests had to be evacuated from a luxury hotel in South Yorkshire this morning after fire broke out in the roof.
The blaze was discovered at about 9am, at the Carlton Park Hotel, Moorgate Road in Rotherham.

Four fire crews were called to the scene and fought the flames from above the building's huge, sloping roof, using a turntable ladder.

The fire was quickly extinguished. It had burned a hole in the roof but caused only minor damage inside the hotel.

Investigations are now taking place to establish the cause, which are believed to be focussed on whether an electrical fault was to blame.
