LABOUR won a by-election in Wickersley forced by the resignation of one the party's councillors.
Chris McMahon won with 871 votes, beating the Conservative candidate by just under 50 votes.

Turnout for the by-election, held after the resignation of Labour's Beryl Billington after just two years in her position, was 29.7 per cent.

The BNP candidate came in third place with 538 votes.

Makes you wonder just what it takes for some people to not vote labour? You would have thought with the state the country is in they would see sense,obviously not.
