A SOUTH Yorkshire mum is over the moon – after scooping £25,000 in a charity lottery competition just days before she was due to declare herself bankrupt!
Amanda Lake kept playing the People's Postcode Lottery despite her financial problems because she "wanted to do her bit".

Now the mum-of-four's commitment has paid off – after scooping a £25,000 prize.

And it couldn't have come at a better time as Amanda was just days away from borrowing money to pay off solicitors' fees in order to declare herself bankrupt.

Amanda, of Ashworth Drive, Rotherham, is now looking forward to a brighter Christmas for her and her four children.

The part-time McDonalds worker said she couldn't believe it when street prize presenter and Tfm DJ Judie McCourt turned up on her doorstep to tell her of her win.

She said she was so shocked she thought she was going to faint!

Fighting back tears Amanda, aged 41, said: "This means so much. It's just amazing.

"I wanted to help local charities and continue to do my bit. I'll spend it on Christmas and the kids."

The People's Lottery has raised £2.3 million to date, with cash going to support a host of local and national charities.
