MP ROSIE Winterton was last night seeking talks with haulage bosses after nearly 200 South Yorkshire lorry drivers were told of plans to axe their jobs.

Ms Winterton is trying to arrange talks with managers at Eddie Stobart Ltd after the firm gave notice of termination of employment to drivers whose jobs were only recently transferred to the company from Tesco.

Drivers who work at the Tesco distribution centre at Middle Bank, Doncaster Carr, are now voting on possible strike action following the 90 days’ notice of termination of employment by their new bosses.

The drivers, members of Unite, are being balloted on strike action.
