171 off-road warnings
POLICE officers cracking down on nuisance off-road vehicles have issued 171 warnings over the last two weekends.
Safer Neighbourhood Team officers in Thurnscoe, Goldthorpe and Bolton on Dearne carried out Operation Bikeless in response to residents' concerns about anti-social behaviour.
They also seized five off-road motorbikes as well as a vehicle without tax and insurance. Six 30 penalty notices were issued for off-road riding, and 27 people were spoken to.
Insp Alan Simpson said: "Operation Bikeless targets the misuse of off-road vehicles that cause damage and anti-social behaviour. This is something that local residents have asked us to focus on and the latest four-day operation has brought some positive results."
