£8.4 Jackpot winners finally tie the knot
A COUPLE who hit the jackpot on the same day they booked their wedding ceremony have finally tied the knot.
Karen Child from Clowne married Wayne Smith at their local church after scooping 8.4 million on the lottery in February 2007.
Their up and coming nuptials must have been a good omen - as the windfall came on the same day they made the booking at Clowne Church.
Wayne had proposed to Karen, 34, a month earlier on the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and the couple vowed to have their dream wedding with the money followed by a honeymoon in Mauritius.
Following the win Karen and Wayne, 25, both gave up their jobs at Tesco and B&Q and moved the family - which includes Karen's children Danielle, nine, and Ashley, 14 - to an upmarket detached home in nearby Darfoulds.
Other treats since their numbers came up have included buying a box at Old Trafford, new cars and holidays for the family.
Karen has also sponsored the home supporters stand at Chesterfield Football Club and from next season the Saltergate Kop will become the Karen Child Kop.
