£30,000 in Val's memory
ASHGATE Hospice in Chesterfield will be more than £30,000 better off next week when staff from the town's Midlands Co-op department store hand over the fruits of their fundraising.
Employees from the store on Elder Way raised 31,600.37 by holding fundraising events throughout the year, including fancy dress days and competitions.
The money was raised in memory of a much-loved and sadly-missed colleague, Val Exford, who had worked at Midlands Co-op for over 20 years before losing her battle against cancer in November 2007 aged 65.
