THIRTY years after they last played Sheffield reformed rockers Stackridge are returning to the city for an appearance at The Boardwalk on September 5.
Reformed in 2007 with the original front line of "Mutter" Slater/Andy Davis/James Warren and Jim "Crun" Walter, the folk/pop/prog rock outfit have enjoyed a thriving summer with appearances at Glastonbury Festival and The Fairports Cropredy Festival
as well as numerous club and concert dates across the UK.
Hugely popular in the '70s, the band cited a range of influences ranging from The Beatles, Beach Boys and Zappa to The Marx Brothers, Bing Crosby, Gilbert & Sullivan and J.S. Bach.
They made several appearances at the Snig Hill venue in its previous guise as The Black Swan and for years a bootleg of a gig there has circulated among fans.
Looking ahead and Rotherham Civic Theatre hosts the new Country Legends Solid Gold Show on September 23, featuring favourite hits from Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Willy Nelson, Tammy Wynette and Billy Jo Spears to Charlie Pride, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers and Garth Brooks.
Now in its seventh year this celebration of country music has proved popular on both sides of the Atlantic. Led by talented vocalists Jeanne Jordan and B J Thomas together with the Outlaw Country Band and backed by lavish costumes and an authentic country barn stage set, it has toured over 20 countries.
Tickets are priced £14 via 01709 823621 / 823640 or theatre.tickets@rotherham.gov.uk - visit www.countrylegends.us for more information.
