WINTER may have well and truly arrived in Sheffield on Sunday night, but The Leadmill was home to some South American sunshine as CSS treated a bit of South Yorkshire to a full blown Brazilian fiesta.
The motley crew of musicians had been streamlined to seven, headed by spellbinding frontwoman Lovefoxxx - complete with a magical wizard-esque outfit and eye make-up so thick it could have been Halloween face paint.

In town for the first night of
the UK tour - they've just finished the US leg - they were full of energy, dancing around the stage dodging a colourful array of balloons hung in the air as they played a series of tracks from latest album Donkey.

The Sheffield crowd were certainly up for a party, bouncing to the music and joining in with Lovefoxxx's zany dancing, especially when she joined them for her regular stagediving session. Highlights included the brilliantly catchy Alcohol - made all the better by the audience's obvious consumption (and indeed the band's as Lovefoxxx confessed at the end of the set) - and Left Behind, both tracks with an ingenius ability to stick in your head without becoming annoying.

The party atmosphere reached its climax in the encore with their most famous hit Let's Make Love And Listen To Death From Above as a shower of balloons and confettti was released to the screaming delight of fans. Hitting a wall of cold air on leaving the club, the gig left a warm feeling from the inside out more effective than any winter coat.
