OFTEN hailed as one of the best of a new generation of jazz drummers, this Scottish-born musician deals in genre-spanning music with a focus on dynamic and exciting improvisations.
Having earned his stripes on the Scottish jazz, folk, R&B and rock scene, Alyn's credits since have included playing with UK luminaries such as Tommy Smith, Courtney Pine, Bheki Mseleku, Jim Mullen, Wolfstone, Jason Rebello and Brian Kellock, as well
as international stars Lee Konitz, Bruce Barth, Joe Locke,Gary Burton and Geoffrey Keezer. He's also currently the drummer with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra and can be heard on dozens of recordings.

The rest of his trio comprises guitarist David Dunsmuir, whose playing style draws influence from the great Alan Holdsworth, and Michael Janisch on electric/ acoustic bass.

But the icing on the gig cake at Ecclesall Road's Millennium Hall tomorrow is award-winning New York saxophonist Seamus Blake, heralded as being one of the most imaginative players of his generation.

England-born and Canada-raised, he is a mainstay in the Mingus Band but has also performed with Dave Douglas, Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny, John Schofield, Brad Meldhau, Wayne Krantz and Jack Dejohnette, as well as releasing several award-winning albums under his own name.
