SOME musicians rustle up a ton of hype and get nowhere. A few get somewhere without making a fuss.
Teenager Matt Williams appears to be falling into the latter category and the Oughtibridge songwriter releases his debut album next week with the prospect of one of his tracks featuring in a film.
The 18-year-old who plies his trade under the moni
ker Modern Eulogy launches his record Glory on Tuesday at Sheffield venue The Boardwalk.
For an unsigned musician that is exciting enough, but now Matt's stock could be about to rise further with the song Farmyard/Graveyard being shortlisted to soundtrack the world's first user-generated film – Faintheart is a flick that has been cast online using only uploaded amateur videos.
"It usually takes artists years of hits and recognition to end up on a music soundtrack, so considering we've not yet released our first album this is pretty amazing," says Matt. "But whatever happens, we're all just really excited to be launching our first album in our home city."
Farmyard/Graveyard is one of 10 album tracks Modern Eulogy will play on Snig Hill.
Tickets for Tuesday's show cost £4 on the night when the bill will also feature Fugitives, Fang Club, Pocket Satellite, The Marygreenes and Last To Be Picked.
The album Glory will be available on the night for just a fiver.
