GLOBE-trotting local songwriter and player Kevin Kitchen has been staging some very worthwhile shows in his home county for the Help Emily To Eat charity.
But it was an unlikely meeting thousands of miles away that brought about his show with Sheffield indie band Slewd at Barnsley venue The Courthouse, on Regent Street, on October 10.
"I met Daniel Walton who is lead singer and bass player with Slew
d when I was playing in Cuba and he was on holiday with his family," recalls Kevin.
"It was only on his last day we realised we were both musicians. We decided it would be great to do a few gigs together."
Cabaret encoreELECTRONIC legends Cabaret Voltaire are being revived this autumn via an unlikely re-working of their debut album by a New Zealand band.
Shiva Records will release the first new work by the band since 1993 in the shape of refurbished key tracks by Kora, the label's recent Sheffield visitors. "It's like Bob Marley & The Wailers meets... well, Cabaret Voltaire," said a spokesman.
