UNEXPECTED truths form the centre of the new drama being presented to South Yorkshire audiences by the Shooting Fish Theatre Company next Friday.
Laminated, which unfolds at Rotherham Arts Centre, is the story of a failed writer coming to terms with the end of his career.
Packing up to leave his home, the main character, Charlie, begins to reconstruct his memories to create a past he can ac
cept.
While rummaging through these memories and unfinished stories, he is overwhelmed by the growing presence of an ex-lover, who confronts him with a truth he never expected.
Written and directed by Darren Bolton and performed by Christopher Anstey and Emily Bignell, Laminated is an imaginative and visual piece that uses puppetry and physical theatre to bring to life the stories and memories of Charlie's world while asking us to consider the reality of chasing our dreams, and all the things in life that we can see, but not touch.
Performance starts at 7.30pm at Walker Place. Tickets, priced £8 (£6 concession), are available via
www.rotherham.gov.uk/theatres 01709 823 621 or 01709 823 640.
This Moment Here is the new work from Chloë Brown at Sheffield's Bloc Space, opening a week today until October 18.
Exhibition organisers say: "A tiny white mouse stands in front of a roller, the type of machine used to flatten road surfaces. The confrontation resembles the iconic image of the 'lone rebel.'"
The exhibition continues Brown's fascination and use of taxidermy.
