DREWE Broughton is adamant he made the right decision joining Rotherham United this season, despite offers from other clubs on the table.
And the journeyman striker admits he wasn't fazed when the club were reeling before a ball had even been kicked this season, having been docked 17 points for failing to exit administration via a compulsory Company Voluntary Agreement.
The Millers have lost just once in 12 games this term in all competitions - and Broughton has played a key role in their success.
"Confidence is fantastic at the moment; everyone is in great spirits after the start we've had," revealed the 6ft 3in hitman, preparing for tonight's game against Leeds United in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
"I think it showed last Saturday. We didn't play well in the first half (at home to Grimsby Town), but we turned that around in the second half with a great displa and won 4-1. We showed our strength of character."
Behind to a Danny Boshell strike at the break, Mark Robins' on-song charges raised their game following the resumption and netted four times in 31 minutes to register their fifth win of the season.
That win finally saw the club out of negative equity and into a positive-points position.
The Millers still remain third from bottom, but on current form would be fourth in the table.
Broughton believes he knows why.
"One of the main reasons I joined this club was Mark Robins," he said.
"He's a hungry young manager. He's from the Manch-ester United school so he's very determined!.
"I'm excited playing for a new young manager. We fancy ourselves to compete with anyone at the moment.
"If our run had lasted only a few weeks, then I'm sure some people would have said it was lucky, but it's not. It's lasted for a couple of months. We've had a brilliant start - and we want to continue that.
"It didn't faze me that the club was in a bad situation with the administration, I think if enough clubs were honest they'd admit they're not in great positions financially.
"I wasn't short of offers in the summer.
"The closer the season gets, you do start to wonder whether you've made the right decision - whether you should have taken one of the offers - but I'm really glad I went for Rotherham. I saw it as a great opportunity in my career."
Broughton is now plying his trade at his 16th club having played for, to name a few, Wigan Athletic as a trainee in the early days, Norwich City and Wrexham.
The Hitchin-born player came close to scoring on Saturday against Grimsby and had a goal ruled out for offside against Dagenham, but netted in a 3-1 win over Southampton in the Carling Cup last month.
"I've had a lot of clubs during my career, so people might think that I've gone around upsetting a few people," he said.
"But that's not the case. I've never asked for the moves.
"However, I've just wanted to play football and sometimes loan moves have come up and I've jumped at the chance because I wasn't playing first-team football.
"It's a pleasure to be a player for Rotherham; I'm really enjoying working with Mark and the other lads.
"I don't set myself targets, I never have done.
"If I did, I'd be really disappointed if I didn't make them, so my main aim is to always give my best - and I've be doing that ever since I've
been here."
