Further to the article in The Star on Monday 9th June 2008 I would like to comment as follows:
My mother Valerie Hewitt (nee Weaver) worked at Dora's bread shop when she was in her early 20's during the late 1950's. I believe she was the manageress for a period before leaving to have her three children.

I then remember her going back for a period to work part time when my brother, sister & I started school. I can recollect waiting for mum to come home from work in anticipation because she would bring home some of the produce that had not been sold that day such as fresh bread, cream cakes & buns.

My sister also remembers going to Dora's on a Saturday morning with Nan (Lily Weaver) for two uncut loaves well done on top & a slab of butter which was kept in a large pot at the back of the shop. This was then wrapped in cellophane paper.

Mum is now 71 and not in the best of health but I am sure she would have had many stories to tell of her time working and shopping at Dora's.
