The caller phoned Vic about his Welsh father who had studied at the Mining Engineering College in Sheffield and had married a local girl.

Vic says: "The gentleman who phoned asked if I had known his father in 1946. He was calling on his mobile phone but must have run out of time or it's possible he may have thought I had hung up on him. I'm hoping he might phone me again. Before we were cut off, he mentioned that he would write to me, but I've heard nothing yet."

•Contact: Vic Roberts at 53 Glynhir Road, Portardulais, Swansea, West Glamorgan, South Wales, SA4 1NA or call 01792 883367.
