A GERMAN woman is desperate to trace her South Yorkshire dad as she nears her 50th birthday.

Sylvia Kelm knows that her father was called Terry Davies and used to live in Park Grove, Bramley, Rotherham.

But when he was sent home from Wildenrath, Germany, in the late 1950s after the RAF found out his girlfriend Katy Schworer was pregnant with her, all ties with her mother were broken.

Now as she approaches her milestone birthday Sylvia, now also a mother and grandmother, wants to try and find her father and appealed to The Star for help.

The timing is particularly poignant as Katy is seriously ill with lung cancer and wants to know what became of the "love of her life" before she dies.

Her friend Martin Eeles told The Star: "She doesn't want to cause any trouble - she just wants to find out about her other side. Making contact with Terry in time for her 50th birthday in July would be the biggest birthday present she could ask for."

•Contact: Martin on 0049 89 4895 2009 or email m.eeles@verein-fuer-sozialarbeit.de
