HELEN La Rosa in Australia is looking for any living relatives in Sheffield of her grandfather, Ralph Metcalfe.

She says: "He was born in South Street (Park area), Sheffield in 1895. His mother died when he was one year old. I am looking for her family. My grandfather moved with his father, stepmother and family in 1903 to Ontario Canada and then, when he was in his teens, the family moved to Sydney, Australia.

"I do not know the last time any one from my family had contact with my great grandmother's family. I am researching my family tree and this is the only branch that I haven't been able to contact.

"My great grandmother's maiden name was Ann Radcliffe. Her parents were Enos and Ann Radcliffe (nee Kay, I think). I have found information on her family under the surname spelling of both Radcliffe and Radcliff. My great grandmother's address on her marriage certificate is 2 Walkley Road, Walkley. Her father and brothers were butchers by trade. I have found in "British Phone Books, 1880-1984" in Ancestry.com that members of her family were living at this address until 1945. The name of the family member I have found living there in 1945 is Enos Charles Radcliffe. I found a listing in 1928/29 for a business of a butchers in their name next door at 4 Walkley Road. I have also found another two listings for another family member by the name of Ernest Kay at 9 Middlewood Rd and he also had a wholesale business and abattoir in Cricket Inn Road."

•Contact: Helen La Rosa at gumnutbabe@bigpond.com or write to her at 71 Lakeline Drive, Kanahooka, New South Wales, Australia.
