A unique collection of model vehicles goes under the hammer at a Sheffield auction house later this month - put together by a former Worksop lorry driver.

Mick Stone was on the road for over 40 years before a heart attack forced him into early retirement aged 58.

Over the next 20 years he began to devote his time to amassing a collection of over 250 model commercial vehicles - and later began to convert them to represent a host of local haulage companies.

Worksop names like JT Hunt, Wilkinson, Seafield, Steetley and Smiths were represented after Mick built the conversions and wife Pam did the artwork.

The couple even asked Wilkinson to send them red paint as the exact tone was not available commercially.

After Pam’s death in April, Mick decided to sell and his special collection comes on the market in Sheffield Auction Gallery on Friday, November 29.
