One night stands for Lyceum season

A CLUTCH of one-night-only shows will usher in the autumn crop bound for Tudor Square's grand old lady.

The Lyceum's diverse series begins with One Man Lord Of The Rings on September 1, featuring Charles Ross, creator of the hugely successful One Man Star Wars Trilogy.

His new show has him hurtling through the Tolkien Trilogy in 3,600 seconds, armed with nothing but a pair of elbow pads and his imagination.

By stark contrast the following night Thank You For The Music brings together a tribute feast covering two '70s pop heavyweights.

ABBA Magic and Bee Gees Magic will join forces for a night of classic songs to have people dancing in the aisles including Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Stayin' Alive and Night Fever.

September 3 sees the first UK tour of chest good friends Emma Powell and Bev Killick's "draw-dropping Aussie hit" Busting Out! land at the Lyceum.

The bosom buddies will entertain with an evening part- musical, part-stand-up direct from the Edinburgh Festival.

Delivering more of the same but with a very British slant comes entertainer Brian Conley (September 4) with a show featuring favourite sketches from his TV series, with some of his best-loved characters and a mix of comedy, dancing and singing with special guests Frisbee, Dangerous Brian, Larry the Loafer and Al Jolson.

Maintaining a 'Down Under' theme, How The Koala Learnt To Hug – two performances in the Crucible Studio, also on September 4 - is a play especially penned for parents to enjoy with children.

It is a charming tale about the magic of family and the importance of a hug.

"Some great stories and sing-along songs - a huge family favourite especially for little ones," say your hosts.
