Community pub the Miners is run by landlord Mark Bingham, a local character who is also the chef.

Mick is known as a perfectionist and takes pride in his hand-made pies (steak and Guinness is a favourite with regulars) and the quality of his Sunday carvery.

Served 12-3.30pm on Sundays, there’s a big selection of roast meat to laden up your plate with. Choose from beef, pork, turkey or ham for £6.25.

Roast leg of lamb is a bit extra at £7.25 and there are stacks of vegetables, roast and mashed potatoes stuffing balls, Yorkshire puddings and meaty gravy.
