Food trends come and go, but the British love of a pie is something you can’t put a lid on.

Research reveals 75% of us enjoy a pie at least once a month and during March there’s even more reason to get your teeth into one.

St Luke’s Hospice is staging The Great Sheffield Pie Month throughout March and hopes families, friends, workmates and community groups will host their own pie events to raise money.

Award winning gastro pub the Devonshire Arms at Middle Handley is to host a Sheffield Pie Month event on Wednesday, March 25. Head chef Russell Caines will be serving up a choice of traditional pies made from locally-sourced produce.

“St Luke’s is our favourite charity. We have already raised over £1,000 for the hospice in the past 12 months,” said Devonshire Arms owner Jill Swift. “At the Devonshire Arms we pride ourselves on making a proper pie, with pastry on both the top and the bottom and a good rich filling. We had a great response to our Pie Month event last year and think it will do even better in 2015.”
