Animals of all sorts gave youngsters a day to remember when a petting farm arrived in the middle of Rotherham town centre.

Calves, lambs, rabbits, donkeys, piglets and even the odd llama attracted mums, dads and children to the Easter holiday event in All Saints’ Square.

The chance to come face to face with a variety of furry friends was just one of a number of family activities organised for the holidays.

In nearby Minster Square there were hula hooping sessions, egg and spoon races, face painting and a treasure hunt involving a variety of town centre businesses.

Also popular was an Easter mega jungle activity trailer, with arts and action themed around a visit to the depths of the Amazon rainforest.

Cabinet member for culture and leisure Coun Amy Rushforth said: “It’s great to see traditional and genuinely interactive events such as this happening in our town.”
