MUSICIANS the Fapy Lafertin Quintet play Sheffield Central Library Theatre on Surrey Street on Thursday, July 21.
Described as the royalty of western European gypsy music, the quintet includes the two greatest living gypsy guitarists – Fapy Lafertin and Lollo Meier.
They will be joined by gypsy violinist Tcha Limberger and supported by Dave Kelbie and Andy Crowdy.
Lafertin hasn’t toured in the UK for nearly 10 years.
His career has seen him establish himself as a master in the Hot Club style developed by Django Reinhardt, whilst also branching out into jazz alongside the likes of Charlie Byrd, Scott Hamilton, Al Casey, Benny Waters and Milt Hilton.
The show is a celebration of the work of local mental health charity Community Action Halfway Home.
