RHYMES FOR A REASON: Love poem
Remembering Cool Hands' smile, Walkin' round Howden for a while. A cosy Sheffield put at night, Bobby Charlton in black and white.
Travis takes his taxi for a drive,
Kirk meets Vincent in Lust For Life.
Eastwood and the Duke evoke the West,
The works of Vermeer, Rembrandt and the rest.
Whenever I feel like giving up the ghost ----
I raise my scotch and give thanks to those.
Chaplin and Keaton showed us the way,
Hurricane Higgins took our breath away.
The beauty of a Morricone film score
Johnny Cash in prison playing to an encore.
Into the mystic with Van The Man,
The way Jane Tomlinson ran and ran.
Connors hit the ball with power and grace,
An unforgettable smile on Kelly's face.
Whenever I feel like giving up the ghost -----
I raise my Irish and give thanks to those.
