Paloma Faith has announced today she will kick off her 2014 Autumn tour at Sheffield City Hall on Tuesday 28th October 2014. This first date forms part of a 21 date UK tour.
Born to an English mother and Spanish father, the Hackney born singer draws on diverse influences from her colourful past and background mixing a variety of musical forms, genres and cultures.
Before her rise to fame in 2009, Paloma worked as a barmaid, lingerie assistant, magician’s assistant, actress, burlesque performer and trained as a contemporary dancer before singing a record deal in 2008.
Released in 2009, her debut album, ‘Do You Want the Truth, or Something Beautiful?’ introduced Paloma to the world with a glossy ensemble of retro soul and sassy pop songs. Singles released from the album include ‘Stone Cold Sober’ and ‘New York’ which were both top 20 hits in the UK. Since then she has become recognised for crossing contemporary rhythms and beats with a seductive, quirky and elegant offering of music and has fast become dubbed as a retro style queen due to her opulent costumes and staging.
Her second album ‘Fall To Grace’, was certified double platinum and the first single released ‘Picking up the Pieces’ became Faith’s highest charting single to date, reaching the UK top 10.
Faith released her third album, ‘A Perfect Contradiction’ on 10th March 2014. The debut single’ Only Love Can Hurt Like This’ is due for release on 12th May 2014. The tour will cover all three albums with a decadent spectacle of costumes, props and her unmistakable hint of retro glamour.
Tickets go on general sale Friday 4th April 2014 at 9am.
