A Sheffield church is getting crafty this weekend with a two-day textiles fair.

St. Mary’s Church in Walkley has joined forces with the Wool Baa to stage the wool and textiles craft fair on Saturday and Sunday.

It is the only event of its kind to be held in the city this year.

A spokesman for St Mary’s said: “There will be rolling workshops and demonstrations including wet felting, needle-felting, braiding, spinning, weaving and machine-embroidery and knitting and crochet techniques.

“This is an ideal opportunity to stock up on materials and treat yourself from the array of hand-made items on sale.”

Stallholders include Colourcraft, Keen Crafts, The Wool Baa, Tommy and Zac, Chase the Clouds Away, Craft Den and more.

There will also be a vintage stall selling old knitting and sewing patterns, retro wool and craft tools.

Knitting and Craft Magazine will be available at the book stall.

There will also be stalls selling needles and wool, along with a variety of patch-work and quilting materials.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 21, and Sunday 22 from 10am until 4pm at the church on Walkley Road.

Refreshments will be available.

There is no entrance fee but donations are welcome.

Proceeds will be divided between the St. Mary’s Church Roof Fund and Amy’s Retreat charity.

Amy’s Retreat is a Sheffield-based charity for families who have children with cancer.

It is raising funds for two projects - a new holiday home for families to use, and holidays at Center Parcs for families whose loved ones are undergoing treatment.
