PREVIEW: Cosmo Jarvis, Plug tonight.

HAILING from Devon via New Jersey, this smart cookie must feel like he has plenty of second homes and Sheffield is almost becoming one of them as Cosmo, top right, again brings his modern urban folk wares up north.

This time instead of the rainy steps of Sheffield City Hall - as was the location for his spot at last year's Tramlines festival - he's in the warm of Matilda Street where he opens for Leeds lot The Sunshine Underground. On March 14 Crazy Screwed Up Lady is the latest single from the teenage troubadour's album Humasyouhitch / Sonofabitch.

Sitcking with support acts, The Moons, bottom right, open for Ocean Colour Scene at the O2 Academy. Both bands have a link in Paul Weller; in the case of these Acid Jazz signings it is frontman Andy Crofts who is the former Jam man's keyboard player. Chris Ketley, previously of the recently disbanded Rakes, also helps provide their soulful slices of classic English pop. New single Nightmare Day is out on Monday.
