Playground Mafia, Plug tonight

PLENTY happening for these lads at the moment having just signed with White Label Music to release a single later this year and landed a sponsorship deal with clothing brand Bench.

"They love the music and the boys love the gear so it's a perfect fit," says their spokesman. Both parties were involved in a gig at The Harley and when PM let slip how much they liked the gear Bench had photos done which are going on their brand site.

Fronted by Matt Bruce and evolved out of The Speakeasy, the Mafia men headline having penned some new tracks, at least one of which will feature. Matt is also remixing a Little Man Tate track, with their blessing, and has collaborated on a song with support act NEM.

Elsewhere tonight you can catch London indie/ska quartet Depot play Sheffield's Redhouse. Since they began gigging three years ago the teenagers have released the They All Stare EP on their own label and here feature with three other bands including Rotherham's The Arguments, who play their last ever gig. Glassyouth continue to fan the flames for their imminent new single Run by headlining The Vault, in Rotherham.

Showing a slightly softer side to the former Headliners' usual high energy offering, Run tackles the pointlessness of running from your problems and picks up where first single Bottle After Bottle left off. They play Barnsley's Burn Down The Disco with The Harringtons on July 10 and The Boardwalk a week later.
