No Limit to your club memories
TURN the clock back 20 years and it was a venue with a fond or hazy place in the hearts of many music-loving/making locals.
Eventually The Limit was swallowed by a flats block, burying with it a history of classic early gigs including U2.
Now a Sheffield author is seeking recollections and photos of its heyday and landmark shows for a new book. Take It To The Limit will tell the story of the legendary West Street venue opened in the basement of an old jeans factory by former policeman Kevan Johnson and Wapentake bar DJ George Webster on March 30, 1978, swiftly becoming a favourite haunt up until the early 1990s when it was closed having helped launch the career of Sheffield bands like Def Leppard and Human League.
Dirty Stop Out's Guide creator Neil Anderson is behind the project. Send your Limit info to neil@takeittothelimit.info
