Hawley album’s estate inspiration
SHEFFIELD singer-songwriter Richard Hawley has once again chosen an album title by taking inspiration from a city location.
The guitarist has called his sixth LP Standing At The Sky’s Edge – a pun on the name of the Skye Edge estate.
Hawley’s previous album titles include Lady’s Bridge, Coles Corner and Lowedges.
Among the new record’s nine songs is a track called The Wood Collier’s Grave, named after a real memorial in Ecclesall Woods.
The singer-songwriter said the album features a more stripped-down sound than his previous efforts, with less orchestration.
n Standing At The Sky’s Edge is released on May 7 and is Hawley’s first LP for his new label, Parlophone.
