City return for Christie

South Yorkshire singer Tony Christie will continue to celebrate his 50 years in music this autumn with a show at the city’s O2 Academy.

The voice behind massive hits I Did What I Did For Maria, Avenues And Alleyways, Every Word She Said and the anthem Is This the Way To Amarillo? will make his début at the Arundel Gate venue on October 30.

In 2008 he released Made In Sheffield, featuring collaborations with some of the city’s finest including Richard Hawley, Jarvis Cocker, The Human League and Arctic Monkeys.

This year the Conisbrough crooner followed that with Now’s The Time! in which he revisited his roots again, bringing together the sounds of northern soul, British beat, film soundtracks and a nod to Johnny Cash.
