Christmas with Stannington Brass Band

Stannington Brass Band will be busy over the festive season with 15 engagements throughout the area – playing local and traditional carols.

The band is very proud of its local roots and is keen to ensure that the carols, which are unique to the area, live on for future generations.

Its performances can be enjoyed in local pubs, halls and churches as well as other venues throughout the city.

The highlight of the Christmas calendar is the band's Christmas Concert at the Lomas Hall Stannington on Saturday, 13th December.

The programme will include music with a festive flavour and will showcase the musicianship which gained the band promotion to the prestigious Yorkshire Championship Section.

Musical Director, Derek Renshaw will be putting the band through their paces before taking them on to their next big challenge of competing with top bands such as Grimethorpe and Black Dyke Mills at the Yorkshire Area contest in Bradford next March.

The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost 6 and 5 and are available from Stannington Hardware or tel 0114 230 1873.
