From 1.30pm to 5.30 pm Stannington Library volunteers will hold the festival in Knowle Top Chapel on Uppergate Road in Stannington village, just opposite the library.

Introduced at the end of September 2015, the event marked a full year of volunteer management in the local library.

Writers and story-tellers from across Sheffield will come together at the festival to tell tales, and to talk about and read extracts from their work, with a ukulele group providing a musical interval around the middle of the event.

Some of the contributing writers will also have copies of their books for sale.

Festival organiser, Bob Mynors, said: “This year’s event will take place in the chapel and not in Stannington Park as last year’s. Our chosen date is the last official day of British Summer Time, so we really didn’t feel we could trust the weather. That’s why we have moved across the road into the chapel, and subtitled the event ‘Inside Stories’, because that is what they will be.”

Only Carmel Page from last year’s bill makes a return this year. She will bring her famous flying teddy bears with her to find out if they can fly indoors. She will also be introducing a new pirate character. Story-teller Lynn Rishworth will bring a love story from the Second World War World and a Viking tale. Sailor/writer, Malcolm Snook, will relate tales of his travels round the Mediterranean and beyond. Author Samantha Priestley, with support, will read extracts from her latest work ‘Orange Balloon’.

As well as ukulele group Wuff who provide a musical interlude halfway through the show, theatre group Hallam89 and Stannington Library Writers Group will make contributions.

Admission to the event is free, but contributions made on the day to Stannington Library will be happily accepted.
