A talented musician will rejoin Stannington Brass Band for a Yorkshire-themed concert after a three-year break to pursue his career.
Trombonist Lewis Bettles, aged 18, from Stannington, Sheffield, will perform with the band on Saturday, June 14, before he heads off to Glasgow in September where he will study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Lewis, who started playing the trombone aged nine and studied music production at Rotherham College of Art and Technology, was a finalist in this year’s BBC Young Musician of the Year competition.
The Reflections of Yorkshire Concert will take place at the Library Theatre, Sheffield Central Library, Tudor Square, Sheffield, and is part of the Yorkshire Festival 2014.
The festival is the 100-day cultural countdown to the Grand Depart of the Tour de France, which begins in Leeds on July 5 and arrives in Sheffield on July 6.
The band will be conducted by musical director Kevin Wadsworth and will perform a selection of well-known music with a Yorkshire connection.
The concert will start at 7.30pm and tickets are £8 and £7 for concessions.
