Preparations are under way for the Christmas lights switch-on in Wath.

The event, organised by Wath-upon-Dearne and Montgomery Hall Community Partnership, and sponsored by local businesses, is due to take place on November 28 at 4pm.

Music, carols, fairground rides and face painting are planned.

Coun Alan Atkin, said: “Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Partnership team, we’ll be bringing a Christmas to remember to Wath.

“We’re hoping to get hundreds of people along to enjoy the festivities with hot mulled wine and warm homemade mince pies, served by students from Dearne Valley College, who are also organising free Christmas nail art.

“There will also be a prize penalty shoot-out competition and children’s activities.”
