Sport and fitness sessions will be on offer for just £1 across Sheffield today to mark the start of the 2012 Paralympic Games.

Swimming, tennis, squash and football will all be £1 today - the day of the Paralympic opening ceremony - and Sheffield International Venues facilities will also offer fitness classes, gym sessions, and access to athletics tracks and court hire for the same reduced price.

Facilities include Ponds Forge, Don Valley Stadium, the English Institute of Sport, Heeley Swimming Pool, and Hillsborough, Concord, Stocksbridge, Springs, Graves and Westfield leisure centres.

Wheelchair tennis player Alex Jewitt, swimmer James Crisp, and wheelchair table tennis player Sue Gilroy are among the GB paralympians who train at SIV facilities.
