Green-fingered villagers in Barnsley have been putting in the hours to ensure their gardens are blooming lovely in time for a fundraising Open Gardens Day.

Some 11 gardens in Worsbrough, including those of the ladies pictured - Pam Kellett, Anne Balme, Pauline Colton-Shaw, Gloria Roebuck, Gloria Davies and Anne Womersley - will be open on Saturday, July 26 from 10am to 5pm to raise funds for St Mary’s Church in Worsbrough Village.

The church will be open all day and refreshments will be available in the Old Schoolroom. The Junior Choristers will sing at 4pm.
