Restaurant features in Michelin and Harden guides
IT was a good week for brothers Michael and Bryan Thompson - their Druid Inn at Birchover in North Derbyshire got in both the Michelin and Harden's restaurant guides.
Michelin gives the Druid a Bib Gourmand (one grade below a star for good food at moderate prices). The only other one in the area is Richard Smith's Artisan at Crosspool, Sheffield, which has held the award for about a dozen years. "It will help the area," said Bryan, right, running a six- course all puddings menu at the pub tomorrow night (details on 01629 650 302). Further up the scale, both Fischers of Baslow Hall and the Old Vicarage at Ridgeway retain their single stars.
CARY Brown is to rename Barnsley restaurant Armstrongs, which he took over late last year, as The Limes. Previous owners Christopher and Martin Peck closed with debts totalling 60,000, papers filed at Companies House revealed.
GUSTO-Italiano, that little Italian cafe on Church Street, Sheffield, now has a drinks licence.

PLATILLOS, the tapas bar in Leopold Square, Sheffield, is now selling selected tapas to drinkers in its downstairs bar. "Some drinkers find going upstairs (to the restaurant) a bit intimidating," says co-owner Craig Smith.
GRINDLEFORD'S Maynard is in the middle of a transformation from country house to boutique hotel.
