Youngsters rewarded with book tokens after rising to reading challenge

THESE youngsters have every reason to get their noses into a good book after winning a Doncaster-wide competition.

Doncaster's public libraries ran a scheme to encourage youngsters to read plenty over the summer holidays with the Quest Seekers Summer Reading Challenge.

The children had to read six books over the summer, collecting stickers and other freebies along the way. Once they completed their quest they were to be rewarded with a medal and certificate from the Doncaster's reading development team.

Now 28 youngsters - one from each library in the borough - have received an extra bonus of a free book token as a reward and acknowledgement of their love of reading.

The tokens were donated by law firm Keeble Hawson.

Tony Gregory, managing partner of the firm's Doncaster office, said: "We were delighted to have the opportunity to present these book tokens for a scheme that seems to have captured the imagination of many children.

"It also complements the involvement of some of our team members with other reading schemes, where they take time out to support reading in a primary school."

In total 1,616 children completed the Summer Reading Challenge.
