Youngsters are quick on the draw
MASTERPIECES from youngsters from a Doncaster school are the latest decor at Doncaster Royal Infirmary's emergency department.
Art-loving pupils from St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School made a trip to DRI's Emergency Department today to hand over their pictures to hospital staff.
The colourful pictures, illustrated poems, and creative writing will be used to decorate temporary hoardings put in place around the department while a multi-million redevelopment takes place.
Pupils from Years 4, 5 and 6 of the Balby-based school were given a grand tour of some of the new facilities before helping to put up artwork around the waiting room, reception and play area.
Headteacher Nick Collins said: "Pupils from each school year helped to produce the artwork and they loved every minute of it!
"We decided to donate it to the emergency department as part of our community cohesion project, which involves getting the children involved with the community, working together, and giving something back."
Doncaster-based contractors Pacy and Wheatley started work on the emergency department build in December 2008. The build will enter its fifth and final phase in July and is scheduled to be completed this autumn.
