Young masterchefs cook up a treat

YOUNG chefs from a Doncaster school got a supermarket seal of approval for their Moroccan cuisine.

Sandringham Primary School, in Intake, was chosen as the winner in a Sainsbury's technology challenge competition, organised by Business and Education South Yorkshire, for the team's Moroccan chicken dish with apricots and almonds.

Sandringham pupils were among schoolchildren challenged to prepare a healthy meal for a family by spending no more than 5.

The challenge took place at Danum School, where one team from each school was given an hour to prepare, cook and present a nutritious meal to a judging panel which included representatives from Sainsbury's.

Doncaster MP Rosie Winterton joined them at the event to see their creations.

Seven schools took part - Intake, Plover, Kingfisher, Town Field primary schools, Heatherwood special school, Danum School Technology College and Sandringham.
