Young apprentice welder is in the top bracket
WELDING apprentice Adam Hopewell is celebrating after making the top five in a regional competition.
Adam, 19, from Rossington, finished fifth in the regional Skillweld tournament in Bradford – a competition to find the best young welding apprentices in the country.
Adam, who is studying for a City and Guilds Welding Fabrication qualification at Donaster College, just missed out on reaching the national finals.
He said: “I show off a range of different welding techniques and I really enjoyed it. I liked competing against people from across Yorkshire and I think to come fifth out of 50 in the county is quite good.
“I have always wanted to go into engineering and am already working four days a week as a welder while studying at the College.”
