Why singing can beat the blues
WHETHER you're a professional singer or bathroom singing superstar, singing is great for the heart.
Charity Heart Research UK says that singing lowers blood pressure and makes you happy as it can reduce hormones associated with stress.
The charity has come up with some top tips on how to get the most out of your singing talents and advises:
- Tackle household chores while singing away to your favourite tunes – you'll get through them quicker and have a lot more fun.
- Go solo and sing your favourite songs in the shower or with a hairbrush in front of the mirror. Cheer up your daily commute by turning the volume up in the car and singing along.
- Use your singing talent at matches to chant along whole-heartedly and support of your football or rugby team.
- Check out local choirs, drama groups or singing workshops near you for a great vocal chord workout. If you prefer a more informal setting, wrap up warm and join the thousands of people singing carols in church buildings, at train stations and outside supermarkets this season.
